Steps along the Way is a unique walking club program in three communities of the City of Fontana, Southridge and Miller Fitness Center and Heritage Neighborhood center. These clubs promote the health benefits of walking and exercising, while motivating first-time walkers and experienced walkers to increase their steps on a weekly basis. Then choose a Walking Club location nearest you, Southridge (South Fontana) and Miller Fitness Center (Central Fontana) or Heritage Neighborhood center (North Fontana). The clubs meet at 6:30pm Monday through Thursday. Walkers who are unable to participate at one of the above locations are encouraged to sign up and track their walking steps on the websites contact us section.

| Vons |
The Vons grocery store at Base Line and Cherry Avenue is one of the stores that Councilwoman Acquanetta Warren recruited to take part in the program. Store Manager Jim Pellettera said that he is enthusiastic about the idea and the store already tries to promote healthy food by prominently displaying its produce section. The store, which opened three years ago, offers tours to students, who are educated about what's available in the produce section and are given fruit and water to take home, Pellettera said.
